We are Scientists...

and Mathematicians! An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Here in Pre-K we explored three different types of apples: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith. After learning all about apples through read alouds, we now know the different parts of the apple, how apples grow and what can be made from apples...we had an apple taste test! Before we tasted each kind of apple, we put them in order from biggest to smallest, cut them apart, and studied the different parts. We looked at the stem, skin, meat, core and seeds. We passed around the core to get a close look at the tiny seeds! Then, we tasted the apples and decided on our favorite! After, we were each given a blank apple to color red, green or yellow to match our favorite! Last, we learned about graphs and made a "Which Apple Did You Like The Best?" graph. Scroll down and see for yourself which apple was liked the most! This was such a fun activity!
