Spring Things!

 * Reminder...there is no school April 4-8. Happy Spring Vacation!
We made a "Spring makes me think of....." list before reading a non-fiction spring book! I was blown away by our lengthy list of spring things!
We love the "There Was An Old Lady" series....such fun read alouds (and great for recalling and sequencing)!
Engaging sequencing activity on the Promethean Board. We did a great job remembering the order of each object "swallowed"!
Our beautiful "b" butterflies!

Our springy "f" flowers!

Thanks for visiting The Pre-K Post! Come back soon for more exciting updates!

What's the weather? What's the weather? What's the weather, everyone?

Although we have been learning about weather all year as one of our "Teacher's Helper" daily jobs, we are now taking a deeper look into Meteorology! These mini meteorologists are reading weather books, poems, looking at forecasts, graphing, learning about thermometers AND keeping weather journals for the week! Check it out below!
Our weather poem and a couple of our weather books!
Graphing the weather
We checked the weather report and first recorded it together as a class on the Promethean Board! The words match our pictures. The kids even tried to write the temperature and weather word on their own!
Back to our seats to record the weather in our journals! We love learning about the different types of weather and how the weather changes each season!

What's your weather prediction for the rest of the week?!

Pre-K's forecast looks bright and sunny! :)

A little of this and a little of that!

The Writing Center is open for business! We added a new exciting center to the mix...the Writing Center! Here we practice writing letters, words, numbers, drawing pictures, stamping/punching letters and tracing shapes and animals with stencils. Everyone has their very own writing journal to get to work! ;) If you have any extra "office supplies" at home (envelopes, stationary, calendars, rulers, stamps, tape, staplers, pens/pencils, notebooks, etc.) we will put them to good use!

During our daily Morning Meeting when we take "attendance", we have mastered identifying our first names and have moved on to identifying last names! After just a few days, we are really getting the hang of it. These little scholars are getting ready for Kindergarten!

So far, letters c, o, a, d, g, m, l, h, t, i, j, k, u, b, r, f and n have been formally introduced. Next up....e! Other skills we are focusing on are letter sounds, beginning sounds, rhyming, vocabulary, comprehension, difference between words/letters and concepts of print....and the list goes on and on! Sight words introduced so far....I, the, and, a.

We are constantly working on identifying numbers 1-10 (and beyond!) and counting/counting objects 1-10 (and beyond!). A few other skills are are practicing are patterning, sequencing, more/less and sorting to name just a few!

And....let's not forget about social skills, which we are, of course, working on all day long!!! :)

Showing off our super straight, super quiet line before heading outside!
Drawings of Ms. Nelly (left) and me (right)...just in case you couldn't tell! ;) Thanks, Whitney! :)

Top o' the mornin' to ya!

We were shamROCKIN' and rollin' on St. Patrick's Day here in Pre-K! It was such a fun and eventful day! We made some leprechaun hats, talked about Ireland and even found it on a map. We listened to Irish music and bagpipes and watched some exciting Irish Step Dancing. We weren't afraid to try out some Irish dancing ourselves and couldn't stop giggling! After lunch, a mischievous little leprechaun visited our room and caused some trouble! He made a mess with books, knocked over chairs, left some little green footprints, a poem, gold coins and cupcakes! This silly little leprechaun even left his little green shoe behind hanging on our clothesline! If you don't believe it, see for yourself....

Pre-K is LUCKY!!!
Uh-Oh! After lunch, we came back to a locked door, a book under the door and little green footprints....

So confused and waiting to go inside!
Oh no! Looks like a leprechaun was here!!!!
Gold coins everywhere!!!!
A note from the leprechaun on the Promethean Board!
And a poem! (With little green footprints!)

Looking for the little green shoe left behind as was mentioned in the leprechaun's note!
Found it!!!
Obviously near the shamrocks and rainbows!
Forgot to mention....the leprechaun left mustaches!!! (Must be a very funny leprechaun!)   ;)

Selfie Stick Fun! (I need more practice in order to fit in everyone! We will just have to try again,,,,,
soon! This is way too much fun!)   :)

A writing activity: "If I caught a leprechaun I would......"
My cute niece and nephew little leprechauns, Maggie and Mikey!

We hope you enjoyed your day as much as we did! Watch out for those sneaky little leprechauns!!!!
Thanks for visiting the Pre-K Post! Please come back soon!
