Teacher's Helper is in effect!

Last week in Pre-K, we started the very important job of the "Teacher's Helper". The Teacher's Helper has quite a few responsibilities for the day! The helper is in charge of leading morning meeting and taking care of "jobs" such as attendance, calendar, weather, counting the days of school, and line leader, just to name a few. The helper also gets to sit in a special chair on the rug. The Teacher's Helper changes daily and goes in alphabetical order by first name. It's great to see each student take such pride in their responsibilities for the day! A huge thank you last week's Teacher's Helpers, Adam, Adan, Ashley, Carmelo and Christian....they nailed it! :)

Reminders!

• On Wednesday Pre-K will be previewing the Book Fair and making "wish lists" to take home! If you would like your child to purchase books, you're welcome to send money in a labeled envelope or purchase books at Open House. As you can see...we are becoming quite the little readers in our cozy "Reading Center"!

• Open House is on Thursday, October 1 at 6:00....hope to see you there!
• Wednesday is an early release day! 
• Pumpkin Family Project is due Tuesday, September 29th. Please return the pumpkins, so we can display them outside of our classroom! Thanks to those of you who have already returned them! Check out these creative pumpkins below!

Strengthening our fine motor AND learning about apples!

We have been listening to lots of apple stories (fiction and non-fiction) and creating a list of what we know about apples! Here we are making stained glass apples with tissue paper and glue. In the process we are making our fingers nice and strong! Try doing some activities like this at home (using tweezers to pick up small objects, stringing beads, playdough, popping bubble wrap) to improve pre-writing skills!

Learning how to be independent!

This week, we have focused on practicing our morning routine of coming into the classroom (by ourselves!), taking out our folders and lunchboxes, putting them in their designated spots and hanging up our belongings! Way to go Pre-K! Thanks for your support, Pre-K families, in working with us to help foster independence to these little scholars! :)

Ok, Ok....maybe it was the second or third day, but who's counting?!?! I was able to snap pictures of these adorable faces, so I'll count that as a success!
