Pre-K takes on STEAM Fest!

As you know, we spent a great deal of time reading books by Eric Carle and learning about his illustrations. After our 5 star Eric Carle performance, we wanted to go a step further and create some Eric Carle inspired paintings of our own! Just one of the books we read by Eric Carle was "The Tiny Seed" and we knew this was the perfect book for the vision we had! It tied in perfectly with learning about the different parts of a flower, the painting process AND Eric Carle!

If you didn't make it to STEAM Night, here's how it was done...

Step 1: 4 groups were given specific colors to mix and paint

Step 2: We painted using various tools- bubble wrap, popsicle sticks, forks, combs, brushes, sponges, toothbrushes, Legos, fly swatters, etc.

Step 3: We observed what happened when the colors were mixed and noticed the different textures and patterns we created

Step 4: We waited for the paint to dry and then cut the paper into strips to use for our collages

Step 5: We shared the paper with our classmates to make
unique BEAUTIFUL flower collages

Step 6: We recorded our observations

Step 7: We gave ourselves 2 thumbs up for the AWESOME work we did!
That was FUN and we learned so much!!!!

Truly one of my favorite projects/author studies!
Proud of my little scholars!
Thanks for visiting The Pre-K Post!
Come back soon!
xoxo
