Storytime with Dr. Bonasera!

We love when Dr. B visits for a special read aloud! This time, Edwina, The Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct by Mo Willems (one of my favorite authors), was the book of choice. The class loved this story....especially the character Reginald Von Hoobie-Doobie!

Thank you, Dr. B!

The Day It Rained Hearts...in Pre-K!

We read The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond and then it rained hearts in Pre-K! Thanks to all who donated stickers, paper, ribbon, hearts, glue, etc. We couldn't have made these sweet collages without your help!

So much love!
So much fun!
So much learning!
So creative!
And....soooooo cute!
A few of the finished collages!

A friendly reminder....If you wish to make Valentine’s Day cards, please include enough for every child in the class so there are no hurt feelings.   We have 18 students.  Please do not write each child's name on the valentines as this makes handing them out very challenging. Instead, just have your child sign his or her own valentines. This is a good time to practice name writing using the correct uppercase and lowercase letters. Do only a few each night so that this activity remains fun and exciting!
Feel free to send in the valentines in advance if they are complete as they can be stored in the classroom. We will be passing out Valentine's Day cards on Thursday, February 11th.

Thanks for visiting The Pre-K Post...come back soon!!! xx

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

For Chinese New Year, Pre-K read books and watched videos about the tradition of this holiday. We had fun making fierce dragon puppets to scare away bad luck, parading around school, and learning about the animals of the Chinese Zodiac! This year is the year of the monkey. We practiced saying Gung Hay Fat Choy (Have a happy and prosperous New Year)!

Thank you for teaching us about some of the traditions!

Working our way to the 100th day!!!

Thank you for participating in our 100th Day Family Project! The students were so excited to show off their creative "100s". We are two days away from the big day (as long as there are no more snow days)! If your child has not returned their project...it's not too late!

Our awesome projects are displayed outside of our classroom for all to see!

How we stay active when we can't go outside...

Musical chairs (one of my favorites)!!!! It's an oldie but a goodie! With all of the energy in Pre-K, it's important to get up and moving throughout the day (especially when the weather keeps us inside)!
I was very proud of Pre-K for showing good sportsmanship, following the rules and of course, having fun! We will definitely be playing this again in the near future! Playing is learning!
First and second place...Stella and Tyler!
Now time for a DANCE PARTY!
Thanks for visiting The Pre-K Post! Please check in every week! :)

Happy Birthday, Stella!

Thanks for the fun celebration! We hope you had a fabulous birthday!!! :)

xoxo Love, Pre-K

Groundhog Day!

On Monday, we read Ten Grouchy Groundhogs and learned what Groundhog Day was all about! This is a silly countdown book that tells a story about groundhogs who can't wait for winter to end so they could get out of their den! After reading, we wanted to make our predictions whether it was going to be an early spring or longer winter!
Coloring in our groundhogs!

Making our predictions on a chart!

9 predictions for longer winter and 7 for early spring! Now we wait for tomorrow....

On Tuesday (Groundhog Day), we checked in with Punxsutawney Phil AND Connecticut Chuckles....both say SPRING WILL COME EARLY!!!!! YAY!!!
No grouchy groundhogs here!

Smile is you're excited for an early spring!

Happy Groundhog Day!!!

Click below to see Chuckles the Groundhog's prediction for an early spring! We got a chuckle out of this! ;)
