Lots of Learning in Pre-K!

We are moving right along in learning our letters/letter sounds! Last week....reading teacher, Mrs. Evanko and I, even introduced our first two sight words (I, the)! The students learned how to tap out each word, then put the word together and used the words in sentences! Although we are not focusing on sight words as much as letter identification and sounds, we will introduce a number of them to the students. Another skill we have been working on is learning the difference between words and letters. We are becoming little experts at being able to circle words and letter (and numbers) in our daily morning messages!

Reviewing letter/letter sounds and writing the letters in the air!
Learning our first sight words!
Tapping out the sight words!
Independent reading- looking at pictures, turning pages, pointing to words and letters!

Here are the letters that have been introduced: c o a d g m l h t i j k p u

Pre-K RoxStars!

We are rockin' with good character at our assembly! Two thumbs up...keep up the great work!

Congrats to Hasnain, Jasmin, Jaylah, Klaudia, Mariam and Melvin!

We can't wait for our next character assembly!

Keeping our teeth happy and healthy!

Smile! We spent a few days talking about ways to keep our teeth clean and healthy! We read books, scholastic magazines and sorted food and drinks that make our teeth happy and sad!
We sorted things what make our teeth happy and sad! It's ok to have things once in a while that make our teeth sad, but don't forget to brush and floss!
Another sorting activity....the students cut, sorted and glued all on their own!
It's not often we do these type of "worksheet" activities, but it's good to practice these skills. We will add these activities in a little more now that we are ready for them. It's a big accomplishment that the students have strengthened their cutting skills. A huge improvement since the beginning of Pre-K! We are getting ready for Kindergarten!
Smile for happy and healthy teeth! :)

The Art Center is open for business!

There's a new hot center in Pre-K....the Art Center! The purpose of this center is to 1, have fun, and 2, encourage creativity! All kinds of supplies are in the art center for the kiddos to create whatever they would like! In the Art Center students work alone or in groups. Sometime a project is worked on over several days. I have received several masterpieces created by the students! :) If you have any materials at home that you feel are fitting for our Art Center....please send them in! Anything from tape to scrap book paper to stickers or any other fun supplies would be appreciated!
