REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!
In "The 3 R's" song Jack Johnson teaches us the importance of the 3 R's....
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!!!!
If you're going to the market to buy some juiceYou've got to bring your own bags and you learn to reduce your waste
And if your brother or your sister's got some cool clothes
You could try them on before you buy some more of those
Reuse, we've got to learn to reuse
And if the first two R's don't work out
And if you've got to make some trash
Don't throw it out
Recycle, we've got to learn to recycle,
We've got to learn to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
With Earth Day approaching, Pre-K has been doing some hands on learning using recyclables (Thanks to our Pre-K families)! We have been finding the recycle symbol on our recyclables and categorizing them into groups such as paper, plastic, metal and glass. Pre-K has been learning ways to help protect our Earth through books and songs. Be sure to check in again soon to see us get creative using these recyclables in room 204's very own "Recycling Center". Click on the link below to hear Jack Johnson's catchy tune "The 3 R's". Remember to REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!

Reading is FUN!
Love seeing my students choose reading (to themselves or with a buddy) during play time because they are excited about books! I recently received a Scholastic Book order (which is super exciting for me!) and added some new Mo Willems books to our classroom library. Mo Willems is a creator of children's books with characters such as Elephant and Piggie or the Pigeon. These are some of our favorite read alouds....especially the Elephant and Piggie series! Elephant and Piggie are best friends and often address issues of friendship. These books are so silly....we read together and laugh and laugh!!! Look out for them in the Scholastic Book orders and if you are looking for good engaging books to read with your child...this is it! I promise they will not disappoint! :)

The Writing Center is open for business!
We added a new exciting center to the mix...the Writing Center! Here we practice writing letters, words, numbers, drawing pictures, stamping letters and tracing shapes and animals with stencils. Everyone has their very own writing journal to get to work! ;) If you have any extra "office supplies" at home (envelopes, stationary, calendars, rulers, stamps, tape, staplers, pens/pencils, notebooks, etc.) we will put them to good use!
And here we are practicing writing our numbers with markers on dry erase boards (can also use shaving cream, sand, playdoh). These hard workers just LOVED this activity! Dr. Jean has a great song called "The Numeral Song" to teach us how to write numbers 1-10. Check it out here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpA-YUC29E8
