Pre-K is LUCKY!

We were shamROCKIN' and rollin' on St. Patrick's Day here in Pre-K! It was such a fun and eventful day! We made some leprechaun hats (which we practiced cutting out ourselves!), watercolored shamrocks using magic white crayons, and Dr. Bonasera visited, again, to read a story! Dr. B read a very funny story, Mister Dog by Margaret Wise Brown and even wore one of our very special leprechaun hats. Pre-K talked about Ireland and even found it on a map. We listened to Irish music and bagpipes and watched some exciting Irish Step Dancing. We weren't afraid to try out some Irish dancing ourselves and couldn't stop giggling! After lunch, a silly little leprechaun visited our room and caused some trouble! He made a mess with toys, knocked over chairs and cots, left some little green footprints, a poem and chocolate gold coins!
I'm one LUCKY aunt! My adorable Irish niece and nephew, Maggie and Mikey! <3

Donors Choose!

DonorsChoose.org is an AMAZING online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Teachers use this website to get people to help fund "projects" such as anything from books to material, supplies, furniture or technology. Exciting news for Pre-K....I recently posted a "project" and it just went "live"! Yay! The project I posted is for "Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs" and a storage rack to go along with it. My classroom neighbor and teacher friend, Ms. Tenk, has these Alphabet Tubs in her classroom and we just love to borrow them when she is not using them (thanks Ms. Tenk, you ROCK!) . It would be so exciting and beneficial to have our very own set! We would use these Alphabet Tubs throughout the day during morning meeting, centers, and group activities. Such a fun way to introduce letters and letter sounds! Please check out the link below. If you wish to donate, donations will be matched using promo code SPARK. Any donation would help!

Put Me In The Zoo!

Unfortunately, our "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" day was postponed due to what else but.... SNOW! We picked right back up where we left off with "Put Me in the Zoo" for day 4 of "On the Loose with Dr. Seuss"! Pre-K looked like a zoo, since our favorite stuffed animals decided to come for a visit! Our stuffed animals joined us for morning meeting, snack, story time, free choice and even some singing and dancing! Check out these "party animals" in action! ;)

Although these animals need to work on their participation....they were very well behaved during morning meeting!
DANCE PARTY to a Pre-K favorite...."Let's Go Swimming"!
Our "On the loose with Dr. Seuss" week was way too much fun! We just love reading and rhyming with Dr. Seuss so much, we are going to continue through March!
Thanks for visiting our blog and joining the fun!
If you would like to be a guest reader, please let me know!

Fox in Socks with a side of Green Eggs and Ham!

Day 2 of "On the Loose with Seuss" was a "Seuss-essful" day!

Pre-K was so excited to show off our socks today at school! To start our morning, we had a very special guest reader. He may have looked like Dr. Seuss with a very tall red and white striped hat, but it was Dr. Bonasera! Dr. Bonasera read a very engaging Green Eggs and Ham. We cannot wait for Dr. B to come back and read again! We followed up Green Eggs and Ham  with making our very own green eggs and ham and they were a HIT! We made sure we had all the correct ingredients and measured and mixed and gobbled them up.  After reading the silly book Fox in Sox, we took off our shoes and talked about the similarities and differences of our socks! Too much fun for one day?!? No such thing! :)

Today's thought from Dr. Seuss...."Why fit in when you were born to stand out?"

Reading Green Eggs and Ham with Dr. B

Do you like green eggs and ham??

Would you like them here or there?

Eat them! Eat them! Here they are!

I do so like green eggs and ham! Thank you, thank you, Sam I am! - Dr. Seuss
 Pre-K in socks!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's Wacky Wednesday!

On The Loose with Dr. Seuss!!!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Even though we had a snow delay, it didn't stop us from celebrating Read Across America Day! It was a perfect day to wear our PJs and cozy up with a good book. We started off the day with making red and white striped hats and ended the day reading Dr. Seuss books with our K and Third Grade buddies! Remember "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." - Dr. Seuss

Here's the line up for the rest of the week:

Tuesday: Fox in Socks- Wear your favorite or mismatched socks
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday- Wear something wacky! Some ideas are clothes inside out or backwards, two different shoes, crazy hair, etc.
Thursday: One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish- Wear something red or blue
Friday: Put Me In The Zoo- Bring a stuffed animal to school

Dr. Suess's workshop... getting our hats ready!
Here's the finished product! Say cheese!
